Emma Watson To Launch New People Tree Collection At Royal Garden Party
Emma Watson will launch her new People Tree Collection this summer at the Prince of Wales ‘Garden Party to Make a Difference’. The actress who starred in the Harry Potter films will reveal the collection which will be her third for the ethical fashion brand People Tree. Although Emma was not actually involved in the design of the collection she accompanied People Tree Founder Safia Minney to Bangladesh to witness first hand the difference that Fair Trade fashion is making to the people there. She also helped to pick out the Fair Trade textiles to be used in the new collection.
The collection will include a range of Fair Trade dresses, skirts, shirts and tops. It follows the highly successful debut summer collection entitled ‘Love from Emma’ which featured a range of organic cotton summer dresses plus lightweight summer jackets, t shirts, shorts and accessories, all handmade by Fair Trade groups using hand knitting, hand weaving and hand embroidery and featuring bright and bold colours and plenty of stripes and eye catching patterns. The autumn winter collection which is available on the People Tree website now and features . The whole collection had a distinctly British feel with bright Emma has modelled some of her favourite pieces for the collection.
Since her film debut in Harry Potter aged nine, Emma has appeared in all of the Harry Potter films and several other productions. Modelling for the Burberry Campaign in 2009 started her career in modelling and fashion. Emma is a self confessed fashion devotee who has become aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and wants to increase the choice ethical fashion for young people like herself.
People Tree, founded by Safia Minney is one of the pioneers of ethical fashion, working closely with 50 Fair Trade groups in 15 countries. It brings benefits to people and the planet at as many steps of the production process as possible. The brand also works to pioneer ecologically sound methods of production to minimise the impact on the environment. The People Tree designers in the UK and Japan make imaginative use of local skills to produce beautiful and unique designs.
The Start Garden Party hosted by Prince Charles at Clarence House, Lancaster House and Marlborough House Gardens from 8th to 19th September is being called the Garden Party to make a difference. Start is a national initiative by The Prince’s Charities Foundation to promote and celebrate sustainable living.It aims to help people in the UK take positive and practical steps towards a better future. Prince Charles has long been an advocate for sustainable living and the Garden party will encompass food, comedy, music, debate and children’s activities as well as fashion. Other celebrities attending and curating the event include Jools Holland, Alan Titchmarsh, Johnathan Dimbleby and Ben Elton. The fashion collection which include Emma Watson’s launch of the Spring summer 2011 collection is currated by Dame Vivienne Westwood and also features Orsola de Castro’s Upcycling Workshops.
