With the bank holiday fast approaching, we’re all scanning the weather forecast to see whether it’s worth dusting the BBQ down for possibly it’s first outing of the year.

But don’t despair if it rains this weekend, as the Met office have just released it’s long term forecast for the Summer, and it’s GOOD news!

After the dreadfully disappointing summers of 2007 and 2008 in which we saw floods and the wettest August on record with above average rainfall, The Met office predicts that it will be warmer than average during the summer of 2009, with (are you sitting down?) temperatures of up to 30 degrees! and lower or close to average rainfall.

A repeat of the wet summers of 2007 and 2008 is unlikely.According to Chief meteorologist Ewen McCallum, a repeat of the wet summers of the past couple of years is unlikely.

“After two disappointingly wet summers the signs are much more promising this year,” he further predicted, “We can expect times when temperatures will be above 30C, something we hardly saw at all last year.”

So after picking ourselves up off the floor, the summer dress team are now busy looking for the best offers on summer dresses, tops, shoes , sunglasses, sun hats, shorts and of course all important sun tan lotion, because we’re all gonna need it. Yippee!
