Summer Dresses Vs Jumpsuits

Summer dresses have always been really popular clothing for the summer months. They are pretty, feminine, cool to wear and very stylish but recently there has been a new trend for jumpsuits and playsuits that is almost rivalling the popularity of the summer dress. Jumpsuits and playsuits,  also know as “all in ones” and “onesies” are equally as versatile as summer dresses. There are plenty of styles available from smart or more formal styles, to vintage and retro, pretty florals and bright colours. What will you be wearing this summer – dresses or jumpsuits or both?

Jumpsuits and playsuits are in some ways as practical if not more so than summer dresses. They are like summer dresses, a ready made outfit that needs little or no co ordination making getting ready in the morning quick and simple. They are great for those times when you will need to be quite active or on a windy day when  a summer dress is just not practical. There is how ever the issue of going to the bathroom which can be tricky with either a jumpsuit or playsuit but if you can put up  with this small inconvenience then they have a lot to offer.

Jumpsuits can be great alternatives to sexy evening dresses or party dresses. Just as you would choose a sexy evening dress in a luxurious fabric perhaps featuring draping and eyecatching embellishment, you can also choose  a beautiful full length jumpsuit in a glamorous style. Instead of party dresses you can wear jumpsuits with pretty ruffles. The shorter playsuit styles are perfect for the daytime and as special occasion dresses and there are also great casual options which are usually made from jersey.

Some ladies worry about whether they will be able to find a jumpsuit or playsuit to suit them but this should really not be a problem as long as you follow the usual style rules that you apply when wearing a dress. So if you have a larger tummy that you want to hide look for a jumpsuit that is loose fitting around that area. If you are an hourglass shape, cinch in with a belt and if you have large hips and thighs look for jumpsuits with straight or boot cut legs and wide necklines to balance the hips out.
